Formerly our EMR/80-hour course, this program meets the 2011 guidelines of the Canadian Medical Association and the Paramedic Association of Canada’s National Occupational Competency Profile. Ideally suited for workplace responders in high-risk environments, Advanced First Responder participants will develop a strong understanding of the human body in health, illness or injury. Participants will develop the skills necessary to assess patients, make critical decisions about care, access emergency services and package a patient for transport–thereby minimizing the time required for EMS services to be on-scene.

The Emergency Medical Responder course is designed as our highest level of emergency medical training. The program meets the updated guidelines of the Canadian Medical Association and the Paramedic Association of Canada’s National Occupational Competency Profile.

Ideally suited for worksite medical responders, for occupational nurses who may have to respond to workplace emergency scenes or as a pre-paramedicine program for students with an interest in pursuing paramedic, nursing, or medical training. In some Canadian provinces, EMR is the minimum level of training required to work as an entry-level ambulance attendant.
